The American Legion Riders
About The American Legion Riders
The American Legion Riders is a motorcycle organization within The American Legion Family, formed to promote the aims and purposes of The American Legion as a family-oriented motorcycling activity for members of The American Legion, The American Legion Auxiliary, and The Sons of The American Legion.
The program began in Garden City, Michigan in 1993 when Chuck "Tramp" Dare and Bill "Polka" Kaledas of Post 396 launched the idea. The American Legion established the National Riders Program on October 17–18, 2007. Today there are over 125,000 American Legion Riders in more than 2,500 chapters across every domestic department and at least three foreign countries — united in service, camaraderie, and community impact.
Maryland Legion Riders chapters organize rides, rallies, and fundraising events to support veterans and their families. They are frequently seen escorting the remains of fallen veterans and participating in Patriot Guard missions to honor those who served.
